The great circle defined by points 90° away from a ground-based observer's zenith, which marks the boundary between the visible and invisible halves of the celestial sphere for that observer. The term "horizon" is also used for any boundary in spacetime between events that can in principle be observed and those that cannot. See also: event horizon, particle horizon. |
